COMPATIBILITY
VIOSENSE lens technology is broadly compatible with all types of display devices that emit polarized light. Some exceptions apply: see below for details.
Supported Devices
Computer Screens
All types of computer screens including LCD and OLED technologies. TN, VA and IPS type LCDs are supported.
Television Screens
All types of LCD, OLED, Edge-lit, Direct-lit, Mini-LED, Full-array LED
Mobile Phones
All known brands and models are supported.
Apple Products
All known models of iPhone, iPad, MacBook and Cinema Display are supported.
Samsung Phones
All known Samsung products are supported except the Samsung Galaxy Fold 3.
Tablets
All known brands and models are supported, except e-readers using e-ink display including most models of Amazon Kindle and the Barnes and Nobel Nook E-Reader.
VR Headsets
Use with a VR headset is possible using a prescription lens insert.
Incompatible Devices
Projectors & Cinema
All known types of projectors are incompatble including Cinema projectors, LCD and DMD projectors and rear-projection televisions.
E-readers
E-readers using e-ink displays use passive illumination and are often monochrome. Not supported.
Print Media
Passivly illuminated media such as books, paintings, and colored objects generally only reflect non-polarized light which is not compatible with VIOSENSE eyewear.
Outdoor Screens and Sunglasses
While VIOSENSE glasses do block UV light components found in sunlight, they are not compliant with ANSI Z80.3-2020 standards for general purpose sunglasses and are not recommended for use outdoors in daylight as sunglasses nor with outdoor screens such as sunlight-readable screens.
Samsung Galaxy Fold 3
The Samsung Galaxy Fold 3 features the POL-LESS OLED which does not include the standard polarization element in the display, and is therefore incompatible.
Plasma TVs
Plasma screens use fluorescent gas cells to drive pixels without use of polarization; not supported.
CRT Screens
Cathode ray-tube displays use electron activated phosphors to generate color without polarization. Not supported.
Monochrome Displays
Any display outputting a single color channel is not supported, regardless of color.
