Frequently Asked Questions

Product Questions

Do VIOSENSE lenses enable a person with color blindness to see "normal" colors?

VIOSENSE lenses create an added dimension of visual information by creating differences in brightness and/or chromaticity of colors between the two eyes, resulting in a hyper-chromatic (non-color dependent) visual cue to appear over potentially confusing colors in a digital display. The effect can cause previously hidden color information to be revealed, but does not use a mechanism identical to "normal" color vision, therefore it should not be considered equivalent to having normal color vision. Please note thate VIOSENSE eyewear are for entertainment use only and do not cure color blindness or any other eye condition.

Do the glasses work as sunglasses?

VIOSENSE eyewear are intended for indoor use only while viewing digital display screens such as a computer, tablet, mobile phone, or television screen. The eyewear is not intended for use as general purpose sunglasses.

Does VIOSENSE work with monocular vision?

No,VIOSENSE eyewear requires use of two eyes (binocular vision) to create the depth-based visual cue.

Can I use the glasses to pass a color blind test?

VIOSENSE eyewear may result in a partial improvement on some color blindness tests, however the glasses do not guarantee a passing score on any such test. In addition, filtering eyewear including VIOSENSE are not permitted to be used on any official color blindness test and may invalidate the result.

Do the glasses work with stereoblindness?

The effect of the eyewear for a person with with stereoblindness is unknown, however it is likely that it would not work if the person is unable to control normal pupilary fixation (see question about monocular vision above).

Which lens should I choose?

The VXP350 lens is the #1 recommendation for most people trying the VIOSENSE lens for the first time. The VXP350 works best with mild and moderate cases of color blindness or color vision deficiency, which includes most cases of common red-green color blindness including deuteranomaly and protanomaly.

The VXP400 lens is recommended for strong color blindness including deuteranopia and protanopia. The VXP400 may also be preferred by some people with moderate color vision deficiency depending on individual sensitivity to color variations.

Note: due to the high strength of the VXP400 lens, it is not recommended for use by persons with mild color vision deficiency due to potenial for visual discomfort.
